I checked in my programs and I show that I have Microsoft office Power Point viewer 2003 installed. I get emails that says open with power point. How do I do this?

I do not have Microsoft office. Do I need to have that? Thanks

If you have MS Office, it should include Power Point. You would not need the viewer. When you get an e-mail that requires Power Point to open it, it should open it automatically.

Like he said, you don't need Office. The PowerPoint viewer should work.

If you click on the attachment and it doesn't open, Right click on it and save it some place that you can find it. Then right click on it there and choose the PP Viewer and at the bottom of that little window, put a check in the box that says Always open this type of file or something similar and it should open now. The next one you get should open in your e-mail the next time with out going through that again.

Some Powerpoint shows from newer MS Office will not work without the newer
viewers..Just for Windows 2000 & XP though.

Microsoft has added new file formats to Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 to reduce file size, improve security and reliability, and enhance integration with external sources. To help ensure that you can exchange documents between Microsoft Office releases, Microsoft has developed a Compatibility Pack for the Office Word, Office Excel, and Office PowerPoint 2007 File Formats.

By installing the Compatibility Pack along side of Microsoft Office XP, or Office 2003, you will be able open, edit, save, and create files using the Open XML Formats new to the 2007 Microsoft Office system. Office 2000 users, as well as users of Windows 2000 SP4 and later, can convert Open XML Formats to binary file formats from within Windows Explorer.

Did you just double click on it? Does it look like a powerpoint show?

If it came as an attachment did you click on the paper clip & choose save to disk?

Yes I did double click on it. I don't know what you mean by powerpoint show?Could I maybe downloaded the wrong version. I see now that there is a powerpoint 2007 and I downloaded powerpoint 2003.

I HAVE NOT GIVE UP YET.

Amron, I would suggest you uninstall the power point reader 2003 and install the power point reader 97 from the site hereunder.
http://www.abxair.com/software/downloads.htm
For some reason you need to have the power point reader 97 installed prior to the 2003 version, but in actual use, I have found that you do not need the 2003 version at all anyway.
When completed, you will be able to view the power point slideshows straight from Outlook express attachments.
You will find the download towards the bottom of the page above. The download is approx. 2.72 mb.

This is right from MS and has many more that you may want to save this link incase you need one for Word or Excel also. CLICK (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/HA010449811033.aspx) Do like Sunny said and go to Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs and remove the Viewer you have now. Reboot you PC then download the 97 one.

97 will read things that the others won't for some reason. If some friend needs one, I always have them do the 97 one and they don't comeback and complain.
