I am sure you are right Barbara. I have read that all computer's will have nothing but flash in the not to distant future and that Hard Drives will not be needed.
Fewer moving parts mean longer life span and less heat which equals less power needed to operate your system.
The next big breakthrough will be very low power use ultra high speed processor's.

I can't see it ever happening.....
Things are built so they wear out or break so you have to replace them.....
An example.......
Buy a new car in the 70's & if taken care of would last for 20 -30 yrs & 250,000 - 300,000 miles (320000-480000kms) with few repairs.....
Buy a new car today & you will have it in the shop for a minimum of $1000 dollars in repairs in the 1st 2 yrs & it will be garbage in 8-10yrs with 200,000kms(120,000 miles)
A TV bought 30 yrs ago would easily last for 15 - 20yrs but when it gave out the replacement TV would be lucky to last 10 yrs.......
Buy a projection TV today & replace it in 3-5 yrs......
Companies no longer build things to last as they lose to much money if you are not continually upgrading or replacing their product
