I have some pictures stored on floppy discs made with Picture IT, which Microsoft did away with. My program is long gone too. Does anybody have any idea how I could get these to open in another program. When I open them from the floppy it won't let me save them to another format. I don't have a clue how I can convert then.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have a copy of Picture It (2001). If you want to email the pictures, I can convert them to jpeg and return them to you.

That would be great. The one I want is actually a document I need for genealogy. I can survive without the others. How do I send it?

Try renaming the file. Change the .mix to .fpx

I tried it but it still won't open. Thanks anyway.

If you have Windows XP Professional...try this.

1. Have the said .mix file saved on your computer somewhere. "My Documents" is easy enough since it'll only be temporary.

2. Open up Microsoft Word and click on the "Insert" menu.

3. Click on "Picture" and then "From File..."

4. Find the .mix file that you have saved on your computer and insert it into the document. Now you should be able to view the image as a part of your Word document.

5. Now, in order to save it as a jpeg, just go to the "File" menu and click on "Save As."

6. Save the document as a "Web Page" (again, let's say in "My Documents")

7. You won't notice anything different, but then go to where you saved the web page document (in this case, your "My Documents" folder) and you'll see that there's the web page file along with a folder titled "filename_files." Open this folder and inside you'll find the .mix image saved as a jpeg. Then feel free to rename the image and place it wherever you'd like.

If Kassie's suggested process doesn't work for you, then click on my name (comroe) and a profile will open. On the right side you will find "email a private message".

That's part of my problem. The floppy won't let me save it. I did get it into Word. Someone had said to save it as a pdf file but that didn't work either. I will NEVER throw away old programs again!

Have you tried opening the floppy and then dragging the files to the desktop?
Another option is to right click on the file(s) on the floppy, then left click on the COPY option. After COPY, then left click anywhere on the desktop, right click and select PASTE.

Drag the pictures into Word.
