The Todays Photo website is featuring a photo I took during a recent fire at our neighbors home as their "Photo of The Day" today (5/02). I'm proud to have these brave men and women get the recognition they deserve.

The newspaper for whom I used to work also printed this image with their story about the fire. Apparently the Fire Chief seen at the right hand corner of the image was very happy with the images I sent to him, as he has asked if I would consider being his departments official photographer. I look forward to documenting the many ways in which these "Everyday Heroes" work to protect their community and its residents.

Thank you folks, and don't forget to thank your local emergency personnel. It's because of them we can all sleep better at night!

I thank mine every night..My Hubby WAS a volunteer fire fighter here where I live. We live across the street from the local firehouse here and we have grown accustomed to the loud sirens at all hours of the day & night!

Please give my personal thanks to each and every one of your spouses and loved-ones who do this important work.

Great image Domestic Goddess!

And Harley, I remember times when working for the paper when I had to back away from fires I was covering because I was afraid of heat damage to my camera and lens! You are right about the tremendous heat these fires can generate!
