how neat! i have never seen one of those. nice capture
I saw one of those last summer! So THAT's what its called! Thank you! Googled a long time and never found out what it was. Sure is a goofy looking thing.
We have gotten some weird bugs up here in summer. Figuring they catch a ride on Snowbirds' cars

They are a type of Sphinx Moth. I don't see them every year, but they and their relatives the Hawk moths are very interesting to watch. They hover and jet around like Humming Birds.

Catching a ride reminds me of a funny story an ex-coworker from Zeeland told me. He is adamant that Humming birds are too small to migrate on their own and catch a ride on the backs of Canada Geese to get back and forth.

i heard that and thought it was neat. then i read on the internet that it isnt true. bummed me out. lol
