Hello All: Could someone please show me how to get rid of those little shortcut arrows on my desktop icons. It would look so much neater without them.

Also, how do I get my shortcuts to the task bar space, next to Start.

Thanks muchly!!:)

1. Load the System Registry Editor by opening the Start menu, choosing Run, typing "regedit," and pressing Enter.

2. Navigate through HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT until you find the "lnkfile" entry.

3. Click to select "lnkfile" on the left pane, then select and delete the "IsShortcut" item on the right pane.

4. You will probably have to restart Windows. You may find that logging off and back on works.

5. To reverse the process, navigate to the same location in the System Registry Editor. With "lnkfile" selected, right-click any blank area of the right pane. Choose New > String Value. Name the new entry "IsShortcut" (without the quotation marks) and close RegEdit. Again, you may have to restart or log off and back on.

Make sure the task bar is unlocked then hold the cursor over the divider till it changes to double arrow then drag it to the right then click and drag your icons to the quick launch area. you can then drag the divider back to the left leave just 3 or 4 icons shown and the rest will be available via the double arrows then relock the task bar.

Download this freebie tweaker. It will take care of the shortcut arrows for you plus many many more thing.

To put an item in the task bar that is on your desk top just drag and drop to the left side of the bar and then delete the item from your desktop by dragging the item's to the recycle bin.

Not quite,
Flatiron's link was for Tweak UI, which is for XP.
Your link is for Ultimate Windows Tweaker v 2.0, which is for Vista & WIndows 7
