Ipod mini /win 7

Hi, I have a 2nd generation Ipod mini, and just got a new a computer with Windows 7. Does anyone know if they are compatible? I tried to install the software that came with the mini, but it wouldn't install properly.I went to apple support and downloaded an updater from 2006, and that didn't let me sync the Ipod either.

What is the name of the software you are trying to install?
What errors do you get when installing the software?

Did you download and install iTunes? If not try that.
