I have a question.....how does one eliminate snow from one's picture? :D
We are in the midst of our first snowfall and I already did my first 360 this year. It wasn't fun.

We had a few flakes on the Malahat last night at the higher elevations.
Sunny in Victoria today.
I am a dunce at using my digital camera though I am addicted to using it. This forum is very much appreciated.

ROFL!!! :D Charlie...you're a hoot!
Wildman....snow gets dull after a few hours of being outside. Especially today. Waking up to a few inches of fresh snow on the ground, not knowing that there is black ice underneath it from earlier freezing rain, is not a good thing.
Thank god there was no traffic earlier, as my car did a 360 through an intersection as I applied my brakes, not knowing about the ice underneath.

I am soooooo jealous!!!
Wish you could bottle it up and send some snowclouds down here.
I really miss the snow so much. But not the freeze-your-nose-off cold air.

Crockett,
You could send some of the wet stuff over here, at present we are still in our twelve year of drought. The last time we reached our normal annual rainfall was in 1991 when we had floods.
Our temperature today was about 63F to about 85F, nice golfing weather.
I don't know if you were joking or not about erasing the snow but I very quickly took your photo into Picture It and did a 6 second adjustment and came up with the below.
Have a fun winter.

Hi Crockett,
Follow Freddie to Ft. Pierce. :D Here in North Central Florida we are having record high's. Have to have the AC running. Rats, just when we were hoping to get the electric bill down, too.
Drive carefully,

How in the heck do you get a pix in here anyway. The one I have been trying to put in (bottom) it keeps telling me it is too large and it is a lot smaller than the first one posted in this thread.
Isaac....It may not be the actual picture size but the file size. Is it in JPEG form or Bitmap? Bitmaps are usually very large files.

I was just joking about the snow being taken out of the pic. I wanted it taken out of my eyesight...LOL
I couldn't imagine snow in Australia. It pretty much melted today.
I honestly don't see a difference in your photo other than it's clearer. Mine was duller because of the snow falling as I took the pic. My mistake was the auto focus locking on the screen. :D
J_J...could you imagine Freddie Vee and me chillin'!...LOL. We'd be checking out the women (at least I would) and he'd be debating with me, their good and bad points. :D

We started getting snow the first full day of my cat being gone. (nov 2nd I think). I was glad since it means I can see paw prints, but no paw prints anywhere so we have big doubts about the return of our cat since someone might of picked her up or something.
I'm just glad we're finally getting snow instead of rain. I hate rain!

None of the above..
I took a tour of your link 'Virtual tour of telco office'.
I was a Supv. for 14 years of the people that installed telephone equipment. Just before I retired in 1987 we inatalled 5 ea. GTD5 electronic offices, and fiber cable was just a new thing, (didn't get involved in fiber). I had all 5 offices in different stages at the same time, (to make a round trip to all 5 offices I would drive about 500 miles and 2 nights in a motel) with 9 of my own people and as high as 27 contractors working on the 5 projects + about 35 other projects being worked on in the trib offices that connect to the GTD5's. Was a busy 2 years, glad I took early retirement.

That's pretty cool. I worked in telecommunications for about 5 months, I had a co-op and it was the closest thing they could find to IT-related, it was quite interesting. But most of the time they had me doing spreadsheets of stuff that should have been done before. (connected circuits, what customers are on what physical MDF section etc....)

When something like this happens, I use a few options:
1. Make the picture smaller in visible size (instead of 800x600, make it 640x480)
2. Use a free program called MWSnap (http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html)
When using the save as feature in it, it gives the user the option of resetting the "quality" to a lower setting, which in turn will lower the size of the pic in KB's.
3. I find that just opening a pic in Paint, then resaving it, lowers the quality as well.
PSP gives u the option to either save as and a menu or just save, which cuts the file size more than in half most of the time without losing quality....and No, I don't work for jasc.com....LOL Just love this program!

Looking at pictures of snow is as close as I want to be to it but living where I do I know that I will more than likely be buried in the white crap before you know it. Sandy

Further to Crocketts answer to Isaaccreek, there is an easier way that I've never seen advised here on worldstart and it can be used for jpg's and gif's by those using "Irfanview" which most seem to have, as it is a great program.
When you have put your picture in Irfanview and have reduced the physical size say to 800 x 600 or whatever, when you click "Save As" to name it and save it, click on options in some versions of windows but in XP it is available as soon as you click save as, untick in the options window "Keep original EXIF data","Keep original IPTC" and "Keep original JPG comment".
Then using the slider at the top of the options window reduce it to say 50% but no lower at any time.
Then go ahead and click save in "Save As" and you have reduced your picture to approximately 25% of the original or more.
The above saves you going to another program to accomplish what Irfanview's save as can do.
Attached is the save as window with the options that I have written about.
I think you will also find that the loss of quality is not as much as when you procede any other way.
Happy computing.
