It's Norton not You!!!

There was a problem for some users with the Norton Update yesterday. I was not able to solve it until this morning - after a lousy nights sleep. For many their computers slowed to a "crawl" or the Anti Virus progam and/or Firewall would not come up. Also such configuration as Automatic Update were shut off. Review all your configurations before and after the "fix".

The "fix" is below. It works, I used it. Print it out and follow the directions. There are directions for all Windows Operating Systems from XP to 98. I would also creat a Norton Fix folder in my Favorites and place the fix site there.

Norton Fix (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2002091113342606?OpenDocument&src=_mi

I didn't have that problem at all...only a slow startup of NAV when I click on the desktop NAV icon...seems to take forever to showup on the desktop - when I want to do the Intelligent Updater, I mean...nothing is set for LiveUpdate - I prefer to do my updates manually.

Other than that, no problems.

Although I never had that problem either, that is a great reason why I never allow automatic updates. Usually two -three times a year, there is a screw up like this that can cause havoc. I usually wait to see how it affects others first. :D

Hi Bob,
I also didn't have any problems.
Take care.

When my NAV finally DOES open on desktop...it is blank, then it shows 'refreshing' - for almost 1 minute - then, after waiting for a total of maybe 3-4 minutes, I finally see all the items listed ...is there anyway of correcting this - by either uninstalling that 'LiveReg Update...v 2' or what????

I'm wasting a good 5 minutes or so, from clicking on desktop NAV icon until I am finally able to do my Intelligent Updater...whereas this entire process took maybe 1 minute or less before the Update. :(

Thanks Balo, I have printed it out and will get back on it later tonight. I am about computered out for now.

Will let you know if it works.

Also for others that have responded;

It is not slow once updated.

I didn't mention it, actually forgot but Norton was having problems ie would not show or be diasabled in the tray once loaded. Go Back, NAV, Alert Tracker should be there.

Think I will request updates manually from now on.

For what its' worth...I have solved my problem...with the help of members at a different Forumwebsite :D
In IE|Tools|InternetOptions|Advanced|Security...unche ck the 'check for publishers' certificate revocation' box ...click Apply, Ok, close IE.
I went to my desktop NAV icon, dbl clicked...and WOW!!! ...opened perfectly.
I am keeping my fingers crossed tho, just in case. :D

Some things on mine are slower after update. I did what LadyL said and it seems to have helped so far.
