This really helps to get it done faster and easier!! Just start to highlight the first couple of letters and then let go of the mouse and hold down your shift key and go to the very end of what you're copying and left click at the very end. Everything between those two points will be highlighted! :)

Actually, you do not have to hold down the "shift" key while going to the end of whatever you want to copy.
Place the cursor at the beginning of what you want to copy; scroll to the end of what you want to copy and THEN hold down the "shift" key and depress the left mouse button.

ftshane - I believe that is what Linda was saying. It doesn't matter if you hold down the shift key for 1 second or 3.

ftshane - either method works (scrolling with the mouse, or highlight-shift-click). For beginners, trying to control the mouse is difficult, so scrolling can be frustrating. And trying to click on the left edge, before the text starts? Really frustrating
(Beginner Tip: click near the first word, then use the arrow keys to move in front of the first word).
Since I'm comfortable with the mouse, I just click at the beginning of a line (no highlighting), shift, then click at the end of what I want to highlight. This method is especially good when the end text is somewhere in the middle of a large paragraph.

I don't mean to belabor this but if I read Linda's great trick, i.e., "Just start to highlight the first couple of letters and then let go of the mouse and hold down your shift key and go to the very end of what you're copying and left click at the very end of what you're copying and left click at the very end."
I interpret this to say one has to depress the shift key while one scrools to the end of what one wants to copy.
I've had occassion to copy from the middle of a page to the middle of the 3rd or 4th page. I did not have to hold the shift key down while I got to the point I wanted to copy.
As Facts Curator states, put the cursor at the beginning of what you want then, either by mouse or key strokes, get to the finish point. It is at this point that one should hold down the shift key just before one clicks on the left mouse button. All chosen area will be highlighted.

Great tip! Especially if you copy and save articles frequently. Thanks.
