:) Crockett.....I downloaded ie SpyAd, also: reg-restor, 3-14-04, because I'm not sure if ie SpyAd is working.

I read all the FAQ's several times and I have a lot of stuff in Restricted Zone, did paranoia, etc.

I only have 2 files in ie SpyAd folder (install, uninstall), should I have: copy.exe and other files??

Are there settings I need to do, I understood that all I do is merge and it does the rest.........Dennis

My attachment shows all the files and folders you should have dennis.

When it is first installed, you just double click on the ie-ads.reg file to merge it into the registry. This will result in a ton of sites being placed into your Restricted Sites zone.

Everytime there is an update, download the update to your desktop temporarily.

Now go to your IE-SPYAD directory and double click on the ie-ads-uninst.reg file. This will remove the old entries to make way for the new one.

Go back to the desktop and double click on the ie-spyad.exe file. Direct the unzip to the program folder if it doesn't already. It will then tell you it unziped 13 files.

Go back to the ie-ads.reg file that is now new and double click on that to merge it into the registry.

:) Crockett.....I assume directory means: start >explore > ie-spyad, 2 files-install.reg, uninstall.reg, double click takes me to winzip, try evaluation version: says can't open, not a valid archive.
winzip options searches all files on C: drive, not there.
Should I delete these files and go to the website and dn/load again or try regedit, if I can find??.....Dennis

ps: I'm still trying to take pictures with printscreen, says too big for WS. I noticed your clipboard was bigger then what I try to send, I saved and printed your instructions, read again.

Liked the color of borders for files in clipboard attachment, :)

1. The directory folder is the main folder (C:\Program Files\IE_SPYAD) so you were correct.

2. The download you should be looking for on that site is IE-SPYAD.EXE and is 244KB. Do not download the IE-SPYAD.ZIP

3. Double clicking on this file should open up the box that is shown in my attachment. Click on the cirlced part where it says "Unzip". I don't have WinZip and by clicking on that, it unzips into 13 files.

4. Print Screen Tutorial (http://bboard.worldstart.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15537)

5. Thanks on the color comment, but that's another whole ballgame as an XP Theme I downloaded. :D

:) ......Crockett, I think I dn/loaded ie-spyad twice, .exe, .zip, also from their site, reg-restor twice. I can't get anything to work.
Do you think I should delete from directory and start over??

Also, a few days before that, I dn/loaded reg-hance (lavasoft site), I'm nervous about it, I think it's settings are complicated for a novice like me.

I've looked at, dn/loaded so many things, now I don't know what I'm doing, L.I.U. tells me to slow down and ask what to dn/load, etc.

I know I need to do one thing at a time. I've not done IE Repair yet. I wonder what should be the priority, system: ie-spyad, IE Repair??? I still get several AdWare's daily, I know it must be in my registry, something I dn/loaded and it added, before I joined WS !!

Thanks for listening and all your help.....Dennis :o

Sounds like this might be over your head also, Dennis.

I would start over and delete everything.

--------------
Uninstallation
--------------

You can uninstall IE-SPYAD in two ways:

* MANUALLY by merging .REG files (as described below);

* AUTOMATICALLY by using the IE-SPYAD Install/Uninstall
Utility (INSTALL.BAT), found in the main IE-SPYAD
installation directory.

The step-by-step directions below describe both methods, distinguishing between the two (MANUAL vs. AUTO) where appropriate.

To uninstall IE-SPYAD from Internet Explorer's Restricted sites zone:

1. Remove the IE-SPYAD List from the Restricted sites zone

MANUAL: You can uninstall IE-SPYAD manually with the uninstaller (IE-ADS-
UNINST.REG). Simply double-click on IE-ADS-UNINST.REG file. IE-
SPYAD's list of domains and servers will be removed from the
Restricted sites zone.

AUTO: You can also uninstall IE-SPYAD manually by using the IE-SPYAD
Install/Uninstall Utility (INSTALL.BAT), found in the main IE-
SPYAD installation directory.

* Note: that when you merge IE-ADS-UNINST.REG into the Registry, you'll
receive the same message as you get when you install IE-SPYAD.
Don't be confused or alarmed by this. Windows is simply informing
you that it is merging the uninstaller .REG file. That .REG file
does actually remove IE-SPYAD's entries from the Restricted sites
zone.

2. Reset Restricted sites security level (optional)

After you've uninstalled IE-SPYAD's domain/site list from the Restricted sites
zone, you may want to Reset your Restricted sites zone security setting to the
"Default Level." Open Internet Explorer's "Internet Options" (off either the
"View" or "Tools" menu bar option). Hit the "Security" tab. Select the "Restrict-
ed sites." Click the "Default Level" button.

At this point, all the changes made my IE-SPYAD to Internet Explorer should be removed.

:) ....Crockett.......I'll try to send 2 attachments:

The install.bat has a blinking cursor at the bottom of the black screen: what do you want to do?

:) ...Crockett.........I don't know how to send two attachments, here is the first, with the 13 files, when I double click >install.bat, brings up the black screen (sent before), 4 options, do I hit enter for auto install ??
........Dennis :o

Dennis

First off, looking at your second attachment, it looks like the program is installed.

Secondly, I found when I used that install.bat thing, it didn't work properly.

When I use Windows Explorer I always show system files and my file extensions.
Open up Windows Explorer and on the Toolbar go to Tools | Folder Options | View tab.
Scroll down and take away the check for "Hide Extensions for known file types."
check....."Show Hidden files and folders"

Double click on ie-ads.reg to merge into the registry. Your file is called ie-ads without the file extension.
That's all until next update.

Scroll down and take away the check for "Hide Extensions for known file types." ...Done....does Windows Explorer always open "my documents", does on my PC ??

Problem: when I d-click ie-spyad.reg it brings up Winzip, I didn't dn/load with .zip, I did .exe dn/load.
Window says my Winzip evaluation is over, didn't buy as I have to have "freeware". This Winzip is getting to me, been my problem all along....

I'm sure your as tired of this B.S. as I am...grrrr, Dennis :)
