View Full Version : Animated images sizes... Why different?
Doing animation color changes and then adding twinkles, could someone explain to me why they are differents sizes?
The one on left was uploaded to walagata.com, the one on right was uploaded to photobucket.com.
Used the same image for both.

did these for dennis61, trying to figure out why they uploaded different for the forum

I can only speculate as to the reason.
Are you able to adjust the image size at those sites or do they have a default setting for a certain size?
The smaller is somewhat less than half the size of the larger at 153421 to 388836 bytes
There is a most logical reason for this and you might ask the source from whence the mystery was derived and that would be the sites themselves

Think I figured it out. :)
Your image is 388 836 bytes
388 836 bytes = 379.722656 kilobytes
Photobucket says on their page:
Images larger than 250K are automatically resized.
250 kilobytes = 256 000 bytes
Why it goes down to 153421 bytes is still a bit of a puzzler though. I see it has 30 frames. I think that may be the reason.
Send photobucket an email. Maybe they'll answer. :D

Kammy, you hit it right on..
The image was like 260K, I took some frames out.
Way under now..
I now got it to work at normal size.
Now, if I can only remember this..
Thanks...;)...

This am I finally allowed your post to load fully, so I could view your sig image. It took a full 2 minutes to load, & show me the changing colours. I wondered what the problem was with the post I opened of your first usage of this img. It took forever to allow me to see the full post, then I noticed the new img. I said to myself, it's animated, so always moved on, not waiting for a complete pic to load. Well today I did, & it looks great, however in the future, I'll not wait!!:D:D I don't usually let most things load, as can almost guess what's going to open, as being on dialup, most posted sites, or "go here & see this" URLS, are for high speed clients. This doesn't bother me mostly, but did want to tell you of your wolf pic. Nice one, & the one for Dennis too. However his loaded instantly for me, size I guess? George.
ps..not nitpicking, just telling you a nice pic. :D

GEORGE,
i can see your problem with it .
i just added up the size of bird's pix and it came out to 1001kb. i'm on BB so it doesn't bother me but at that size it would take forever on a dialup to load.
bird,
what program are you using to create your gifs? they look GREAT but seem to need optimizing to a smaller file.

bird,
with 25 frames this is probaly going to be really large no matter what you do to it.
here is the file . i optimized twice( which was probably wrong to do) and reduced the overall pic size by 25%. it's now about 132k instead of over 400. it's still a pretty big file.
well WS would not let me ul it .
let me link it somewhere and i'll get back.

Bird: Please don't take it off on my account. I knew of a problem, so just bypassed it, didn't mean for you to not use it! For the record, the 3 posted in the thread now, only take about 14 seconds to load for me. The resized one by Robarro, plus the 2 you did for Dennis. Couldn't you use the resize? Sorry for the conflict, George.
No problem Gruss...;)
I have redone it, let me know how this one comes out.
This is the only way I can learn, for you guys to speak up...
It's about 97k and only 8 frames.
robarro, I am using Animation Shop, and it did optimize to a smaller size when I saved it.
