I ran an" a squared 2 " scan just now and got the response.."No malware on this computer". Then I ran an Ad Aware scan and it came up with 6 data trackers. My question is, What is the difference between "Malware" and "Spyware". also, do I need "a2" and AdAware and Spybot S&D. ??? Thanks .

Bill
All of the spyware/adware/"malware" apps look for somewhat different things -- and none of them find them all. I use Ad-Aware, Spybot (along with Spyware Blaster), and A-Squared and common sense, and I consider myself reasonably, but not absolutely, protected from spyware.

Have you updated a2 recently?
It may be that a2 does not consider these "data trackers" as malware, or it may also be false positives on AdAware's part,. I am not sure but I do not think a2 looks for cookies and this may be what AdAware is reporting?
Malware can be anything from virus to trojan to worm to "phone-home-ware", it is a nonspecific term.

Thanks for the response to my question. I will keep all the programs and use them often. Now a days, I guess one can not be too careful. :)
