--> SP2 CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS FOR AMD 64-BIT COMPUTERS
Microsoft has acknowledged a conflict with some computers using
AMD's 64-bit chip. Service Pack 2 could cause these computers to
restart repeatedly.

The 64-bit chip includes a feature--data execution prevention--to keep
some programs from running. It is intended to block malicious software.
But there's a conflict with Sigma Designs' Hollywood Plus DVD decoder
application and a particular file--mpegport.sys.

Microsoft has instructions for ending the conflict on its site. It says
if the problem continues, users should uninstall SP2. That's really
unacceptable. Microsoft needs to resolve this. See the details at:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;878474

I have one machine that uses AMD's 64-bit chip. Service Pack 2 is
installed on that machine, and it is fine. I do not have the Sigma
Designs software on the computer; nor is mpegport.sys present.

--> CALL MICROSOFT IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH SP2
Microsoft has a toll-free number to use if you have problems with
Service Pack 2, or any other update. It is: 1-866-727-2338

That's really unacceptable. Microsoft needs to resolve this.

Or, more accurately, the outfit responsible for the driver need to resolve this!
