I knew how to find Microsoft product ID number in earlier versions of windows, but how can you do it in XP?

seattle5,

Welcome to World Start! :D

I don't have an answer to your question, but I think you'd get more attention and hopefully get your question answered if you'd post it in the PC Ask & Answer Questions section instead. This forum doesn't get as much traffic.

Are you looking for the OEM number? Like the one on your book?

Best,
Dizzy :D

Mine is on a small silver label on the back of the CPU tower!

Here is how you find your ID number
go to start then run type in regedit
go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\CURR ENT VERISON

Look to your right, scroll down till you see Product ID

Another way to find it is to download viewkeyxp
go http://www.betas.intercom.net/forum/viewthread.php?tid=191

After you have activated XP, never do it again. Go to this link.

If you have problems with the first or second link, go to google and type in viewkeyxp and find this thread, also never activate xp again. Having trouble getting these links to view correctly.

Good Luck,

Mary
