Win ME & Firewall

Hello,

Win ME is fairly new to me and likewise McAfee Firewall & AV. One thing that is driving me crazy is this, each time I booth into Windows Explorer requires access to the internet. If I deny access it just keeps popping up those annoying messages until I relent and allow it access. It does not actually connect at that time.

I thought I disabled all the automatic stuff but do not know where this gremlin is hiding. Can anyone help?

Go to the free ZoneAlarm firewall. McAfee is a virus.

I do agree, Zone Alarm cannot be beat. You can pick it up At This Site (http://www.zonealarm.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp). Note that you should remove spyware before installing ZA.

Don't take my word on ZA being the best, you can read more about it and take The Leak Test (https://grc.com/lt/leaktest.htm) at Steve Gibson's site.

Just a note:

You can remove spyware by using AdAware (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/) or Spybot Search & Destroy (http://security.kolla.de/) Both work very well, but I recommend AdAware for inexperienced users.
