Here are some photos of a series of Locks on the Grand Union Canal. We walked about a mile along the canal bank before turning back and in this short distance was a series of 7 locks.

how much height do they traverse?

I'm afraid that i do not know the height that these locks traverse although i will try to find that out.... These locks are hand operated, which must make it hard work when you come across a series of so many in such a short distance. I remember a number of years ago, when we spent a holiday crusisng the Thames, but thankfully those locks were maned, which was very nice, as those locks were huge and took more than the one boat.
Nice, reminds me of where I grew up in Ottawa. :)
