Sony has began including Rootkits on their copy protected CDś.

I think they are only doing this on their music cdś (and probably movie dvdś) so far, but once the wordś out, watch their sales plummet!

I stop buying Sony products quite a while ago and I probly will never buy any of there products any more. razzel

It didn't take them long to issue a fix, but unless they remove it altogether, their sales will still plummet.

I read this earlier too...but aren't we too hasty to blame only Sony...I heard this is going on with other companies too quite awhile ago. I think they just got caught.

One of the interesting twists to this tale is the clause in the "Digital Millenium Copyright Act" which makes it a crime to circumvent any anti-piracy measures included in commercial software! Which, presumably, would include Sony/BMG's rootkit!

No, it wouldn't include the rootkit. The rootkit isn't a part of the antipiracy protection - It's installed in addition to the protection. Removing the rootkit isn't circumventing the pretection at all.
