well, this one was certainly new to me, perhaps not to you tho.
if you are using XP and want to view the exif info of an image on your hdd all you have to do is rt. clik the image, goto summary, clik ''advanced'' and you get the info..this i did not know..

trying this and not having any luck..tried to open with windows picture and fax viewer no luck..tried to open with paint no luck...tried to open with vueprint no luck..so I'm thinking it depends on what you have use to open the picture..

Works for me on XP Home. You left out one step though that almost stopped me from looking further, after you right click on image, you then need to left click on PROPERTIES, then summary - advanced. Thanks for that info.
The above worked when I right clicked on a thumbnail in My Pictures, when I opened the picture in Windows picture and fax viewer I found that you do not need to click on advanced, as that gives you different options, all you need to click on is summary.

Just tried it in Paint and nothing happens when you right click.
Not all cameras are capable of saving the EXIF data. Some of the older cameras don't. This link might explain a little more. I have learned enough to be dangerous about these cameras. lol Have a great night, Mark

Hi all. Followed a link from G4 to here and was trying to get back to viewing Besttechies forums. New to digital pictures, and I saw that this forum had a topic with Digital pictures. After reading the posts, I decided to join cause there seemed to be some pretty friendly people, with some common interests. I keep seeing the subject of EXIF. What exactly is it for if I might ask? You all have shot some pretty nice pictures

goldie,
welcome to WSDI. we are friendly folks. exif info is the information that records w/most Dcams. it tells the iso rating, aperture shot at, speed of the shot, size of lens, date, time and much more..

That's a good tip Robarro, but it all depends upon what Browser you use to be able to get that context menu item.
That works for Internet Exploder, not for Opera or Firefox. :(

crokett,
i'm not talking about online pix. it's about pix on your machine already. if you want a viewer for pix online use this, http://ak.no-ip.com/EXIF/index_en.htm , it works w/firefox as well.
