¢½¼

To get the cent sign or fractions in your document, hold down the ALT key and:
type 155 = ¢
type 171 = ¼
type 172 = ½

Works in Word and Notepad and Wordpad.

I’ve also found these helpful

¾ = Alt+0190

÷ = Alt+0247

° = Alt+0176 ( degrees, as in 350°)

Not to change the subject, but I seem to remember a command that would print out all the characters in a specific font. I forget the keys for characters in Wingdings and Webdings for instance.

Does anyone know how to do this or should I repost in PC Questions?

Okay, I've read the messages and tried the alt+155 - but it doesn't work - any suggestions - I'm on Windows XP with the lastest Word

all alt codes begin with zero [alt + 0162 = ¢] or if using in an html document,&#number [¢ to = ¢ ],no zero.

Are you using the numeric keypad to the right of the keyboard, rather than the number keys at the top of the KB?.. and holding the alt key down until you finish the number sequence?

Some codes don't use the zero, the alt+155 will work. So will alt+0162 for the same character.

Thanks for your suggestion. I use a laptop and so there is no numeric keyboard. I will have a go at another keyboard.

You can't hit a key to make the numeric keyboard out of other keys?
