This can clean the site icons out of your bookmarks.html file thereby reducing its' size.
Delete Icons 0.1.2 (http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=2596&hl=delete+icons)
You might want to back up your bookmarks file (export or copy bookmarks.html) before running the extension, but I haven't noticed any ill effects.
Also if you want to keep from accumulating these icons (mostly .gif files) over again, change these two values to false via url about:config.
