Resizing Picture for Worlstart

I wanted to post a picture but I am being told my picture needs to be 100.0KB. I have no idea what this means but looking at the size of my pic I see it is 1280pixels x 960 pixels.
Will someone please translate this info for me and tell me how to resize?

In the digital imaging forum there are 2 ways to post a picture.
1. As an attachment. Rules are the attachment cannot be greater than 100kb. That's not talking about it's dimensions like you posted, but "physical size". It's quite possible one can post a pic that is 1280x960 pixels that is also under 100 KB.
The solutions to making it under 100 KB is to either make it's dimensions smaller or make it's quality weaker.
Any imaging program can accomplish these tasks, as could freeware like XnView (http://perso.wanadoo.fr/pierre.g/xnview/enhome.html) or IrFanView (http://www.irfanview.com/)

2. Rather than posting as an attachment, post it embedded into yuor post, BUT to do so you need to first HOST the picture at a hosting site that allows hotlinking.
I use and recommend http://imageshack.us/

Go to the site (you don't have to sign in) and upload your picture to the site. It will then spit out several codes. Copy and paste the first THUMBNAIL code into any post you make in this forum.

The benefit of this method is you don't have to alter anything in your pic to post it.
