Nice shots Roy and DF,
No chance of dragon flies this early in the year here, and we don't see all that many anyway. I'll have to see if I can get down to the river across the fields at the back. Not sure if there's access, last I remember it had been fenced off, but that was a couple of years back. :D

Ummmm do we have dragon fly's in Pennsylvania? If we do, I've never seen any. Got enough bodies of water around me, you'd think I would see some. Beautiful.

Nice shots! How did you get him to light on your hand??

What camera, photo software are you using? Do you know about 'unsharp mask'?

My husband just set his hand by him and he moved on to it. But the hand in the pic is my daughters. My camera is a Olympus 5.1 nothing great. I use photoshop 10. Most of them just fly back and forth over us. But this one had landed on my deck so since I love them my husband wanted me to see it up close.

What is unsharp mask?

for 'unsharp mask'. Many programs have this filter or tool available, some allow control over more parameters :) such as your PhotoShop or PaintShopPro.

for PhotoShop specific guidelines (http://www.naturescapes.net/122004/tg1204.htm)

more (http://www.earthboundlight.com/phototips/unsharp-mask.html)

Saw this Dragon Fly and had to get a shot of it, as I have never seen one this big before in my life.
