There are many conflicts being reported with the new version 5.0 of SpySweeper. At the present I have found it interferes with Norton AV, Super Anti Spyware and my Power Schemes. All is well since I closed it down. I had previously unintalled>rebooted>reinstalled and nothing was solved. I have submitted a trouble ticket to Webroot.

Is anyone else having problems. Other problems reported at the SpySweeper forum deal with McAfee and Ad_Aware. Run Ad_ Aware to see if it operating correctly with SpySweeper.

Adaware seems to work fine for me but I had to reinstall Spy Sweeper 5 out of the blue this morning when it reported it was corrupted when I started it this morning. I have also noticed more alerts on blocks than I had seen in the past which makes me think it may have some false positives in it. I have not run a full Norton AV scan yet but scans of downloaded fills seems to be working ok so far.

Hi guys,
Had trouble running AdawareSE.Since Spysweeper 5 download,Adaware only scanned for a couple of seconds or so,and then froze. This also happened some weeks ago when I was testing the Beta version of Spysweeper5.
I contacted Webroot and they told me to shut down Spysweeper completely and then run Adaware.Adaware then scanned ok for its duration. All seems ok at the moment, but I will be keeping a beady eye on the situation.
I also run Avast and Spybot, but there is no conflict with these two and Spysweeper5.Will get back if any new conflicts appear.

It's quite often a good idea to shut down any security type program which monitors in the background (Spy Sweeper, real-time AVs, etc.) while running scans with other security programs... it's not real unusual for it to cause a conflict.

Methinks I may just wait a bit for more feedback before updating to ver 5... Quinn

I have Webroot as my only anti-spy program, therefore there should not be any conflicts but after I upgraded to the new version, my computer froze. Been having problems with freezing since I upgraded to the new version. Am thinking of getting rid of this version & downloading the previous one, which had no problems.

I installed SS 5.0 on the 19th and it promply locked me out of my computer.
I couldn't do a thing nothing worked not even in safe mode.
Ended up taking my computer to CompUsa and it took 3 days for them to get inside when they did they called and told me the would need to do a reinstall
so i had to take my resourse disc's to them for the install.
Needless to say i'm back to SS 4.5 untill they figure out the problem.
I did submit a trouble ticket but for some reason when i click on the link to it i'm given an error saying that i'm not allowed to view it now wonder whats thats all about ?
I did head that WebRoot posted a work around for some of the problems on castleCops at http://www.castlecops.com/f163-Spysweeper.html
Hopefully WebRoot will figure out what went wrong on so many systems and fix it.

Recently I installed the latest greatest 5.0 SpySweeper. All was well until I shut down windows and the program hung. I could only end it by "end now or cancel".
After much digging around the net for a solution, I found this to work for me.

Go to:
http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.php

Scroll down to; "Other known issues and Hints"

Go to; "Program Hang/ Become Unresponsive"
Click on the registry patch and save it.
Now back up your registry.
Now open the patch and read where to go in the registry to change the value to a "1".

Like magic, mine shuts down normally now.
I admit, Webroot should fix this issue, but for now, this will do ok for me.

Hmmm. This patch sets the AutoEndTasks (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windows2000serv/reskit/regentry/34615.mspx?mfr=true) value to "1" and, as stated in the linked article, this value simply results in the suppression of the "End Task" dialog. So, IOW, applying this patch will not cure shutdown problems - it'll simply allow the system to shutdown without user intervention ("End Task").
