MacBook Problem

I have a MacBook mid 2007, (I got it at a yard sale) it won't boot up. All it shows is a folder with a question mark icon in it. It's been awhile since I've had a Mac and not sure what this means. I tried holding the Option key down while starting and Option + P & R key, but it only goes back to the folder with the icon in it. Thats all the keyboard commands I know. It does have the HD in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx
