Smile iOS 10 update

Apple is rolling out an update for the iOS 10 operating system, going from version 10.0.2 to new version 10.1 for your iPad and iPhone....

Got mine for each tonight, taking about 10 minutes or so for the download, install, and answering couple questions for both devices ( iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6S plus ). The iPhone also had me again set up Siri and syncing of few other items... recently had reset my iPhone so that might be why I was prompted to set up Siri and some sync items, so you may not need to do so.

Have found no problems since updating. Lot of the update pertains to iPhone 7 but a lot of improvements for earlier phones and other devices. Resolves quite a few issues found since iOS 10.0.2. Happy updating...

Thank you. Downloading now. Not sure transport directions for Japan will be all that useful though

Updated our Ipads and now we both have to put a passcode in. Is this the new norm or can we change it back to not having to insert passcodes?

I use finger touch sign in on my Air 2 and iPhone as I have since new, one and two years ago. My wife still uses the digit passcode on hers even though finger touch is available. Better security. Might look in Settings, Touch ID & Passcodes where you can turn off Passcode via the link "Turn Passcode Off". The passcode is 4 digit on iPad and 6 digit on newer iPhone... For security I wouldn't be without that, but I tend to be quite careful in all things tech.

Is your iPad an older version and didn't it require passcode with the last version 10.0.2? I don't have access to earlier version iPad so can only give suggestions for newer iPad. Take a look at this article to see if this helps you but in IOS 10, the old slide to unlock is pretty much history.... http://osxdaily.com/2016/09/15/disab...to-unlock-ios/

On my iPad mini I need to go into settings/passcode, enter the passcode and then Tap "Turn passcode off"

Thank you Everton and Big Toe - will take a look at the settings. My wife's Ipad Air is a year or so older than my Ipad Mini which is about two years old. Neither needed a passcode until this latest update.

Your welcome. That update has just been updated again and latest version of the iOS is now 10.1.1
Likely won't notice changes this time....
