Helping a friend. He downloaded an H&R Block tax problem. It downloaded OK but he can't get it installed. He gets the attachment below.

Thanks

Is this the same computer from this thread?

If so then you should not be trying to install a new program until it is back to correct working order. Otherwise this might complicate the fix up. Or cause problems with the newly installed program

I think you will get better results to your problem by contacting H&R Block tech support, but I also agree with Judy it's better to put out the first fire before adding more fuel to it.

This error is not caused by the H & R Block software since it is received when attempting to install so this likely is caused by a conflict between the program and one or more of the files in the C++ runtime libraries. If the H & R Block software was already installed then it would be recommended to run a repair of the program but since he cannot even get it installed then this indicates a problem with the C++runtime libraries themselves. The most effective method to correct this error is to uninstall and reinstall any Microsoft Visual C++ installations currently available on your computer before proceeding with the installation.
There obviously IS a problem on this computer itself so my advice remains the same, work on fixing the computer not attempting to install a new program. The install is not going to work until the computer is working as it should.

Yep, same computer. We'll fix the slow part first then worry about the install.

Thanks,
DICK
