No thanks!

I'll stick with the proven ones I posted, afterall if the Lavasoft already caved in to known spyware WhenU, it might even allow it through the firewall too and not even tell you.

i do run mcafee firewall but the virus part of mcafee locks up when I try to use it since my crash. I appreciate all your help and will get back on here and let you know how everything worked out. Thanks again

Aloha Crockett! THANK YOU VERY MUCH. May I copy, paste and save it in a doc for printing? (Hopefully, it'll take less than 5 sheets of paper). Mahalo!

Hey thank s for all the advice. It is very helpful. I was able to everything except the system restore. I have no restore points between December and March for some reason and the ones I have or try tomake won't let me restore my computer to these dates.
Thanks again

I think you should post a thread(Question) in the PC Ask & Answer Questions forum in regards to System Restore not working.
You should tell us in that thread what made you decide to follow the instructions in this post of mine, what kind of nasties the scans found and also post a HijackThis log for us to see.

Spybot now fixes Spyaxe. I tested this yesterday (12/21/05) and it seemed to do the trick.
No problems thus far

Thumbs up Thank You

Thanks for an excellent post Crockett,

I know I have a problem with "nasties" but have been too busy to address them over the holidays.

I will follow through your instructions through to the letter.

Best,

LA

Many of the links I tried required "Active X" which I must read about further,

All the on-line scans need for you to allow them to install an ActiveX so their product can scan your harddrive. I assure you that these scans are completely safe.

If you have any problems or you get to the part where you are doing the HijackThis log, please start a new post in the PC Ask & Answer Questions forum and someone will help you out.
If posting the log, please state your original problems that lead you to this thread and post the results/findings if any, of the on-line scans and programs.

Exclamation Back up files?

How to Back Up Files and Folders
Note You must have permissions as an administrator or as a backup operator on your computer to back up files and folders. Also, backup operators and administrators can back up and restore encrypted files and folders without decrypting the files or folders. 1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Backup. The Backup or Restore Wizard starts.

On my computer I dont have a back up file, so how do I get it in? and why I dont have one?
