Dr. Watson is what is know as a debugger. Usually if a program abends or crashes then Dr. Watson will record the details. It sounds like you have a problem with your mail client and Dr. Watson is telling you about it. What mail client are you using and have you noticed any problems reading your emails.

Maybe you did not understand me. Dr. Watson should only come up if you have a problem. From what you said it sounds like something happened and Dr. Watson was trying to tell you about it. I had a problem about a week ago and Dr. Watson kept coming up with an error when I did a re-boot. I could not figure out from the dump what program was causing the problem but I finally tracked it down to a program that was running in my systray that was not shutting down correctly because it needed to be updated. Once I updated the program no more problems.

Donna C; Thanks for the link, that is a new item to me. I slapped a bookmark on that one, glad I decided to check out this thread.
Ranger Bob; Thanks for the tip "he's tring to tell you something", never met him yet. But seeing as I got Windows I'm sure he will make me a house call someday.
A doctor that makes house calls now days. Thats history in the makin.

You are very welcome. Was a bit worried that Chappy might be trying to delete him, and he is a very useful thing to have. Donna

Yes he makes house calls but usually when this Dr. speaks it is bad news.

Donna I want to thank you for the link as well. I had a vague feel for what Dr. Watson did but this article does a very good job describing it's function.

Hi there,
I too got Dr, Watson up for the very fist time a few days ago, I did know about it, not the details but am I not right in believing that Dr Watson is a part of Win 98.?? . As already mentioned I wouldn't delete it.

Dr Watson
Do not, delete!

If you have errors come up and in the box there is a lot of machine language you can't make any sence out of, run Dr Watson and he will give you the message of the errors in English, that you will be able to understand. Then you can trouble shoot your system acordingly. I keep him on my task bar in (quick launch), for quick access. I will tell you where he hides, do not delete, if you have 98se he is under windows/system, you can right click on him and (copy to your desktop) and then drag him to your task bar (Quick launch). He is a very usefull tool. When he is running he will be next to your clock..
